It's been a few weeks and Ibani and Ash have settled in nicely. Which might mean it's time for Cassian to take another job.

He's been looking over possibilities in between building the fence and helping Ibani with learning more about the world's she's been moved to. At the moment, he's reading over some information about a possible job and thinking over the options as some carnitas slow cook on the stove.

Ibani checks on the carnitas to make sure nothing is about to start burning, the meanders over to where Cassian is looking over possibilities.

Ash yawns at Cassian's feet, tail thumping at Ibani's approach. "Research?" she asks.

"Yes, a job that's transporting some cargo and people," He leans down and scritches Ash.

"I could help with that," Ibani offers. "Nobody will notice me, unless I want them to."

Ibani also skritches Ash.

"I know but it would be a fairly long trip and it might be dangerous. We would be picking up people who were doing research but ended up in a bad situation."

[last_kallig]

"I think our neighbor would watch Ash for us, for a bit," Ibani offers.

She nods at his explanation. "I should be able to stop a gun from firing, keep the triggers from depressing with the Force, if things get violent. There's the mind trick too, but that depends on the target's willpower."

"I don't want you to have to do that," Though he knows she might and turns his laptop to show her the map of the route to a place not too far from the Himalayas.

[last_kallig]

"I know. Hopefully, it won't come to that. But I'd rather be with you on something like this than not."

"Easy to get into trouble that far from civilization," she remarks, peering at the map. (It's still strange, reading 2-D maps, but she's learned how.)

"It is and those mountains make everything more complicated," The map has some topographic aspects to it but its mainly 2D.

"Steep, cold too, even at this time of year," Ibani guesses. "Do we know what kind of trouble they've gotten into, roughly?"

"One of their contacts ended up stealing from them and leaving them behind."

[last_kallig]

"Ooof. Depending on what they stole this could be very, very urgent."

"Should probably head out sooner, rather than later."

[childofrebellion]

"I'd need to get some supplies in preparation but it wouldn't take long," Cassian's almost always ready to go if he needs to.

[last_kallig]

"I'll bring my more portable study stuff with me, if I can go?" she asks. She has SO MUCH STUFF to learn. SO MUCH STUFF.

"Yes, you can. We'll need to get you cold weather gear," He might have something in his supplies that might fit her.

[last_kallig]

Ibani's smile broadens at the confirmation that she can go. "That would be a good idea, yes. I can cheat with the cold, but it's not good to advertise that."

"I think I saw a coat that might fit me in our supplies. Not sure about the rest of it."

"Boots and good layers," He has been getting her wardrobe full of more options but this is an extreme environment.

"Lots of layers, cold as it is. We're probably going to need to pick up a few things for me, I think."

She knows Cassian doesn't mind spending money on her, but she's all too aware of what her 'life' was once worth. She has to fight the feeling that she's straining his finances.

"Is there anywhere around here that would carry stuff like that at this time of year?" To be fair, they're going to have to stop to refuel on the way ANYWAY, with a trip this long.

"Yes, I know good stores including a few not too far away since the mountains are close," And there are lots of outdoorsy people in the area.

[last_kallig]

"That will make things easier," Ibani replies.

"Should probably bring my civics stuff." Ibani makes a face at that. She understands democracy, on paper, but it still FEELS like insanity to her. "Few other things too."

"If a 'normal' education was like this where I was born, I missed learning more than I ever imagined."

"Education depends on where you are, no matter the place. When we go there, we might also do a brief hike into the mountains to get you used to the cold." That would reassure him.

[last_kallig]

"Makes sense." Her education on Korriban was definitely focused on less academic subjects, for example!.

"Wouldn't hurt, the hike. Although the altitude might be a bigger issue. Korriban's a cold desert, so I'm somewhat used to the temperature."

"Well, I WAS, until you spoiled me by bringing me to California," she teases.

"California has the best weather. Altitude is important to get used to but not always easy."

[last_kallig]

"I'll have to take your word on the weather bit, haven't seen much of Earth, yet."

"No, unless you can cheat with the Force to improve the efficiency of your red blood cells." Yes, she can do that. "Will you be okay, at that altitude?"

"You can do that? No, but altitude has never bothered me that much," Which has always been helpful.
