Leverage Cassian AU: Summer Trip - Yukon

Before school starts, they decide that a trip somewhere nice and remote can serve multiple purposes. Swimming lessons, survival training, and a place where Ibani can REALLY show Cassian what she can do without fear of witnesses!

The Yukon seemed like a good fit, so that's where they've landed.

"Probably because they're not aware that's a space that you can be loud in."

"Maybe, but you were a lot quieter than that, even when I first met you," she points out. "You're not as quiet as a trained Force sensitive, but you're a lot quieter than most people."

Cassian shrugs, "I guess its something I learned to do for my work."

[last_kallig]

"Could be, or you're naturally quieter, or both."

It's time to add the tiny pieces of garlic in to cook, so she does.

"There are things I don't know how to explain sometimes," she says. "I could let you see what the Force feels like to ME, but I doubt you want me in your head."

"That was an uncomfortable experience but that's okay. I'll understand what I can," The garlic doesn't take long to cook and he gets the spinach off the stove.

"It can be uncomfortable even for a Force sensitive, depending on the other person's mind." She frowns at the memory of what some of her instructors' minds were like.

"I think the enchiladas are almost done!"

"I think so too. Will you set the table?" There aren't a lot of plates in the cabin but enough to work.

"Sure!"

Ibani sets the table, humming idly. The line of her warblade is visible in its sheathe down her spine, as she hasn't bothered much with 'concealment' for this trip.

Cassian's grown used to seeing the line of her weapon and understands her need to wear it, he always has a knife on him. He takes the enchiladas out of the oven and sets the spinach down too, "There, all set."

"Nice!"

Ibani flexes her shoulders, feeling the blade shift. "Could probably switch my blade to a more convenient position, while we're out here, not like I'm trying to HIDE it, right now."

"Will work well enough for demonstrating most of the lightsaber forms."

"You can do whatever makes you comfortable here."

[last_kallig]

She smiles at that. "It's nice, not having to hold back so much." Ibani pulls her chair out from its pushed in position without touching it.

"Is there somewhere open nearby, where, er, damage is not as much of a concern? Some of what I can do is more than a little destructive."

"We'll look over the maps to see if we can find a good clearing. There's a whole collection here," He smiles, he's getting slighlty more used to the fact that she can do that.

"That sounds good! But swimming and fishing first?"

Just wait until she throws a boulder that weighs as much as his truck...

Dinner is good, as it always is in Ibani's opinion.

"Plenty of time for both," After dinner, he starts laying out all the maps so she can get a better idea of what's around them.

[last_kallig]

"This one looks good, pretty open. Looks like some big boulders too, useful." Her grin is mischievous. "Could swim after I do my demonstration? I'll be hot, most likely, been a while since I've done much of it."

"Of course, can cool down in the shallow water and you can get comfortable before doing more."

[last_kallig]

"Makes sense," Ibani replies. "Up here I can show you a few things that are hard on ceilings!"

The dishes don't take too very long, which is nice. It might be a quiet evening, unless Cassian has something else planned.

He doesn't have plans other than doing some reading before an early night so they can make the most of tomorrow and their time here.

Ibani is always up with the sun if not before, she was never ALLOWED to sleep later than that, and the habit has proven hard to shake.

She gets dressed, swimsuit under a t-shirt and jeans, and straps her warblade at her hip, the way she used to carry it.

Ash yawns hugely from his spot on her bed. (Ibani had nightmares last night. That's...not unusual.)

Cassian's always up early too and makes coffee and breakfast, they're not far enough north to get the full midnight sun effect but there isn't true sunrise and sunset in the same way there would in California.

"So strange to see the sun so different without leaving the planet," Ibani muses after hugging Cassian good morning.

"Did you sleep okay?"

"I did. That's one reason I like Alaska, there's a lot to see here," He had some nightmares but nothing too bad.

"Earth is really varied, more than any planet I've ever been on before."

She's already done her morning warmup routine, so as soon as breakfast is cleaned up, she's explaining to Ash why Ash needs to stay here. "It's going to be noisy, and I don't want you to get hurt," she explains to the dog.

"In the afternoon, we'll have a long hike with you, Ash," But for now, they'll head out on their own. Cassian packs up some water and snacks.
