Leverage Cassian AU: Summer Trip - Yukon

Before school starts, they decide that a trip somewhere nice and remote can serve multiple purposes. Swimming lessons, survival training, and a place where Ibani can REALLY show Cassian what she can do without fear of witnesses!

The Yukon seemed like a good fit, so that's where they've landed.

"Most places, I think," Ibani replies. "Still safer than either of the two planets I've lived on before!"

"I'm sure Ash will be glad to see us." She starts to walk back toward the house.

"Yes, time for us all to have lunch then figure out where to go next."

[last_kallig]

"I like the sound of that plan!"

They are both enthusiastically greeted by Ash as they head inside. Ibani goes to change clothes.

When she comes back out, she DOESN'T have the sword on her. This would be the first time Cassian's seen her without it. (Even when she was swimming, it was within lunging distance.)

Cassian also changes and he sets out Ash's lunch and his eyes widen in surprise to see her without the blade, "We've got some leftover enchiladas."

"Just, trying to be away from it for a while. Will be awkward, at school." She explains.

"Enchiladas sound good!"

She shifts in her chair, a bit restless. "Have to keep reminding myself that if an actual emergency where I needed to defend myself happened, I could just break their neck with the Force."

Her smile turns wry. "Guess we'll see how good I am at persuading myself?"

"Well, yes," He doesn't have a good answer for that statement so works on heating up lunch.

"Sorry, I know I showed you a lot of things today, and you'd understand what they MEAN, in terms of what I could do."

"If I let myself Fall to the Dark side, it would be difficult for anyone in this universe to stop me," she says, voice quiet.

"I will do everything I can to keep you safe," That's the promise he can make her.

[last_kallig]

"I know you would," Ibani tells him. "And that frightens me, sometimes."

"I will do everything I can to keep you safe too, you know." Her hands clench. "I would not let anyone take you away from me." For a moment, her eyes look yellow green. It's not a trick of the light.

Cassian comes over to give her a hug, "Hey, we'll take care of each other."

The yellow color fades from her eyes as she hugs him tightly. "We will," she promises.

"Never had a Father before, still a lot to learn."

She shakes her head. "Was never even around other people's fathers."

"I've never had a daughter before but we'll figure this out together," They're a family now.

[last_kallig]

"We will," Ibani agrees. She's still not sure WHY Cassian decided to take such a chance on her, it doesn't make any rational sense, but she's glad he did!

"What would you like to do after lunch? Ash will sulk if we don't take him on a hike." Ash thumps his tail and gives his best innocent expression.

"We'll take him for a hike in a different direction than we went this morning to see something new and give him exciting things to smell," He could help her and so he did.

"Probably a LOT of things to smell, I think I heard wolves last night."

She eats her lunch carefully. "I should notice anything hungry or dangerous before it notices us." The Force can be useful like that! "Compared to Korriban, even the predators here feel relatively docile."

"Yes, they're definitely in the area. Ash will probably smell them too, we'll all do our best to keep safe," That's all they really can do.

[last_kallig]

"They won't hurt us," Ibani replies, certain. "If absolutely necessary, I could take control of their minds, though I don't like to do that."

"I don't want you to have to do that," He takes out their lunch and also some maps so they can figure out where to go next.

[last_kallig]

"I shouldn't need to. They feel like even at their most aggressive I could calm them, not like Tu'Kata."

Ibani helps Cassian plan their route and clean up after lunch.

"That's good. Are all the animals more aggressive on Korriban?" It seems like they must be even the ones that aren't trained.

[last_kallig]

"The ones I ran into were," Ibani replies. "But the Sith and the Valley itself have altered the inhabitants over thousands of years. I'm not sure anything that lives there is strictly natural any longer."

"The Valley, it would get into your head, drive you mad. The Empire didn't dare station soldiers there for more than a few months at a time. Force sensitives could keep it out, with effort, so we were safer."

"It sounds awful," And like the kind of place that would grind you down.

[last_kallig]

"It was," Ibani explains. "I could usually feel it, an almost whisper, a faint pressure against my mind."

She shudders. "It wears on you, even if you can keep it out, wears your down."

He gives her another tight hug, "You're safe here."

[last_kallig]

"Yes," she hugs him tightly.

"Leash, Ash!" she tells the dog, who rushes joyfully down the hall to fetch his leash!

"Shall we see what there is to see?"
