Leverage Cassian AU: Summer Trip - Yukon

Before school starts, they decide that a trip somewhere nice and remote can serve multiple purposes. Swimming lessons, survival training, and a place where Ibani can REALLY show Cassian what she can do without fear of witnesses!

The Yukon seemed like a good fit, so that's where they've landed.

He notes the scars but doesn't comment as he strips down to his suit, he also has his share of scars and walks into the water where its shallow, "This is a good place to come in."

Ibani feels him noticing. "Tu'kata, Sith hound," she explains as she slowly walks into the water. "Most of the time they're not bigger than Ash, but that one was the size of a tiger."

"Would probably look better if it wasn't the first time I'd ever healed myself," she adds, tone wry.

She reaches out to him, not used to the feeling of water.

"A tiger," He says quietly with a curse then moves towards her, "Be careful of the rocks under your feet."

"Supposedly there's no upper limit on how big they can get, if they're around enough Dark power and eat enough. They're not natural creatures, they were altered by the Sith long ago to be unnaturally aggressive. I'm not sure they CAN feel fear."

Ibani is careful as the rocks shift under her feet. "Buoyancy feels a bit like micro-gravity," she remarks. It's the closest thing she's personally experienced to swimming!

He shakes his head, that's truly wrong, "If you feel comfortable, put your feet up and lean back to float."

It really is!

Ibani leans back and puts her feet up, to try to float. She struggles with it, at first, trusting the water to 'hold' her!

Cassian reaches out to steady her, "You're okay, the water will hold you and I've got you."

Ibani's not sure about the water, but she trusts Cassian!

She takes a deep breathe, willing her nerves to calm.

"Oh!" she says after a moment or two of actual floating. "THIS is what's supposed to happen."

"Yes, it is, this is where you start. Enjoy this for a while then we'll get into the actual swimming."

Ibani beams up at him, and tries to just enjoy floating for a while.

She reaches for the web of life around the lake and sits in it, metaphorical finger on the web, but not applying any pressure.

"Lots of visitors this morning," she remarks. "It's a busy place."

"It is and peaceful," This is one of the most peaceful places that Cassian knows.

"Not used to peace," Ibani says, floating. "Some part of me keeps, I don't know, expecting to wake up and find out I was dreaming?"

That she never left Korriban, that finding Milliways again was noting more than a near-death hallucination.

"I know, it takes time to get used to it," Sometimes he has trouble with it as well.

Still floating, she reaches out to hold his hand. "We'll figure it out together, right?"

"We will," He squeezes her hand with a small smile.

[last_kallig]

She squeezes his hand back, gently. "Think I've got the hang of floating, what's next?"

He talks her through basic swimming strokes as the day goes on, a moose comes to sip at the other side of the lake before they head back for lunch.

Ibani stares at the moose for a bit, because it is HUGE. "I am very glad that is not a predator," she tells Cassian.

Ibani dries off as best she can when she climbs out of the lake. She has worked up quite an appetite between her demonstration and swimming lessons!

"No, but they will attack at times, just good to be wary around them," As moose are big and everything else is smaller than them.

[last_kallig]

"Makes sense. I'll be careful."

Ibani starts putting clothes back on, as she's hardly going to leave them HERE. She'll just change clothes when they get back to the house!

Cassian loops his towel around his neck and slips on his shoes, "Yes, that's the safest way around here with all the various creatures."

[last_kallig]

"Most places, I think," Ibani replies. "Still safer than either of the two planets I've lived on before!"

"I'm sure Ash will be glad to see us." She starts to walk back toward the house.

"Yes, time for us all to have lunch then figure out where to go next."

[last_kallig]

"I like the sound of that plan!"

They are both enthusiastically greeted by Ash as they head inside. Ibani goes to change clothes.

When she comes back out, she DOESN'T have the sword on her. This would be the first time Cassian's seen her without it. (Even when she was swimming, it was within lunging distance.)

Cassian also changes and he sets out Ash's lunch and his eyes widen in surprise to see her without the blade, "We've got some leftover enchiladas."
