Leverage Cassian AU: Jobs Part Two

It is unspeakably early in the morning, but Cassian and Ibani are getting ready to go.

She's never seen the Himalayas before, so the destination will be interesting!

Cassian's fueling the plane and Ash has been dropped off at the neighbor. Coffee and breakfast have been had, "Have everything?"

"All packed and ready to go," Ibani replies. She's prepared to claim the co-pilot's seat for herself!

Her sword is in its usual sheath down her back, although she has no plans on using it this trip. If things get hairy, it will be MUCH faster to use the Force rather than try to get through all of her layers of clothing to the weapon.

"Good," Cassian starts his pre-flight checks until they're ready to lift off. The first part of the flight takes them over the Pacific ocean to land at the far tip of Australia and refuel and rest.

Ibani has never seen that much liquid water in her LIFE. She spends a lot of the flight staring at it in fascination.

"Would now be a good time to mention I don't know how to swim? I've never been anywhere with enough liquid water for learning it to be practical."

"I'll teach you since you should know how to swim," He wishes that he'd known that earlier but there's a lot to learn about each other.

"Sorry I didn't think to tell you earlier," she replies.

"We're far enough up that I can hardly sense any life in the water below.

She frowns in thought. "I'm not sure I could even sense you if you were more than a few kilometers away. Would be easy if you were Force sensitive, but..."

"That's okay, we'll figure it out. That's why we have various ways to communicate," That's safer.

[last_kallig]

"I could communicate with you mind to mind," Ibani offers. "Which could be useful in a situation where other means aren't working and we're separated."

"But I wouldn't want to do that without your permission."

"I think we'll have to practice that," The place where they've landed is a small airport.

When they step out, Cassian's greeted with a wave by the people working there and introduces Ibani as his daughter, which gets a fond smile from an older man manning a bar, "There are some beds going across the way, I'll make you some food before you settle in."

"We can do that tonight, if you want?"

Ibani is happy to greet the people who are working there, since they're glad to see Cassian. She beams when Cassian introduces her as his daughter.

"Thank you," Ibani tells him.

"We can. What's fresh tonight?" Cassian asks the bartender who rattles off a list of fish with fish and chips first.

"What's fish and chips?" Ibani asks. She's imagining fish and potato chips, but that can't be right. Can it?

"Fried fish and chips, we'll get two orders of that as Paul makes a great one," At that the bartender laughs and starts cooking for them after getting Cassian a beer and Ibani a water.

When the fish arrives, its a huge piece with big chunky fries.

"Oh, I see! They're not chips like what I'm used to at all!"

They are tasty though, especially with malt vinegar! "Thank you, Paul."

"Do you get a lot of people passing through here?" she asks him.

"Some, not everyone knows about it but I've got my regulars," Paul says and grins at her enjoyment.

"One of the best airports and pubs in Australia," Cassian agrees.

"That's the best kind of place, the ones that are sort of secret."

Ibani's not sure what time it is, locally, her internal clock is a bit confused.

"Drop bears aren't real, right?"

She might have done some quick googling, okay?

"No, they're not. Koalas and roos are real," Paul's happy to share about his country.

"What are they like?" Ibani is happy to ask him all kinds of questions about his country all through dinner!

After they finish dinner, Ibani is feeling more tired than she expected. Maybe this is that jet lag that they talk about?

Paul's happy to talk about Australia as Cassian goes and does some final checks on putting the plane to sleep and moving their gear to the two rooms near the pub. When he comes back, he gives Ibani a hug and says, "Time for bed?"

Ibani thanks Paul for his stories.

"Probably a good idea," Ibani replies, hugging Cassian. And mind to mind communication practice, but she's not going to SAY that here.

"See you in the morning," Paul says with a wave as Cassian shows Ibani the two simple but nice rooms where they'll be.

"These are nice," Ibani replies.

"Did you want to practice talking mind to mind with me in the room with you? Would that be less...creepy?" Ibani's honestly not sure what would make it easier for Cassian.

"Let's start with that and see how it feels," If its too odd then that they can wait and try it again after the job.

[last_kallig]

Ibani nods. "I'm not sure how it will feel to you. I've never done this with someone who wasn't Force sensitive. But, you have my word that I won't go poking about in your mind."

"Are you sure you're okay with this?"

"I don't know but it could be a good tool," And its something she's comfortable with so he wants to understand it.
