Leverage Cassian AU: Jobs Part Two

It is unspeakably early in the morning, but Cassian and Ibani are getting ready to go.

She's never seen the Himalayas before, so the destination will be interesting!

"I wouldn't have picked up something that could seriously hurt me, not with my hand at least," she reassures him. "I felt out the venom before I touched it."

"Pretty much ALL of the wild-life on Korriban was dangerous to humans, and some of the plants, so I'm used to sensing out whether something is dangerous to me or not."

"You can feel the venom? That's useful." Unnerving but useful, nothing like the telepathy but unexpected.

"I can! You can blame Overseer Ragate for that," she replies.

"Very keen on poisons, venom, and toxins, that one. Nothing like getting poisoned, envenomed, or intoxicated multiple times a day for months to teach you how to detect and neutralize the damn things."

"I think I could nearly do it in my sleep." Ibani's tone is entirely matter of fact, like someone talking about an algebra class, or chemistry.

"Do you want the sandwich now? I think it's going to get cold if it sits much longer."

"Yes, thank you," He needs to processing everything he just heard.

Ibani wanders back inside to fetch the sandwich, oblivious to Cassian's need to process and the possible emotional turmoil therein.

It's going to take her a few minutes to come back out with the sandwich, if only because she puts her boots on first and refills her coffee.

He takes a long drink of coffee, grateful that Ibani survived but he keeps respecting the Force more and more as it was part of what helped keep her alive.

The Force is also the only reason she even lived long enough to be 'discovered' by a Sith and taken to Korriban!

As for Korriban, hard doesn't really cut it as an explanation- there were multiple times of the year where disposing of the bodies of dead acolytes became a problem.

He could try and just, get all the horrible discoveries over with at once? He could ask for anything Ibani can remember about her training and rip all the bandages off. Whether that would be GOOD for either of them is another question.

Ibani hands him the sandwich and stands next to him, leaning against his side. She sips her own coffee

Cassian sets his coffee down to give her a hug with one arm as he eats.

Ibani has grown to really appreciate Cassians' hugs! And she wraps an arm around him too.

Thankfully, the plane does not appear to have been messed with while they were sleeping! "Pre-flight check time!" Ibani announces. She gently pats the plane. She doesn't 'feel' anything wrong with the plane, but it never hurts to check!

Checks are important to Cassian, he trusts them as the only way to know what's wrong is to check yourself. He runs through the list which so far seems clear as he talks with the tower.

Ibani helps with those things she's learned how to check, but otherwise is watching, listening, and learning.

"Nothing's pulling at me this time," she says quietly. "Which is a good sign."

He gives her a nod as he finishes his confirmations with the tower and takes up heading off to the east. Once they're in clear airspace, he says, "We have a bag of food for later including extras for the people we're meeting."

"That's good. They might be very hungry, depending on what was stolen and what's happened since."

She stretches a little, then sighs. "I should probably study." There are so many things to catch up on! She's not sure she can manage EVERYTHING before school starts, but she's going to try.

"What are you working on now?" Maybe he can help, that will pass the time.

[last_kallig]

"Algebra," Ibani replies, frowning. "I can add, subtract, multiply and divide just fine. But then they go and throw all these letters and things in."

At least math studies will pass the time until they get where they're going?

"They're part of understanding the larger ideas sort of like maps and vectors and once you understand them you can get into the deeper parts of how things work," He starts to talk physics and how he uses math.

Cassian is much better at explaining things than the book, at least in Ibani's opinion!

It's quite a while later when she stops suddenly in the middle of a math problem and tilts her head like she's listening to something. "Storm will skirt around where we need to go, but we'll feel the edges of it."

That's another one of those things that Ibani can do, but this one he's a little more used to, "Where is it lying?"

Ibani fusses with some maps for a minute, getting them spread out. She takes a pencil and draws where it FEELS right. "Will come across this way, curving a bit as it goes." She points to one path. "Going in this way or this way," she taps at places on the map, "would let us avoid the worst of it."

She frowns. "I, the first way doesn't feel right, feels like something lurking there, but not alive?" She growls in frustration. An avalanche, maybe?

He looks over at the map and considers it, "I can work with that."

She smiles when Cassian says he can work with that. "I'm glad I could help. I feel the Force, but that doesn't always result in my understanding what it MEANS."

"At least I've never had prophetic visions, I don't know how anyone copes with those."

"The weather is never easy to understand." Cassian has spent most of his life trying to figure it out.

[last_kallig]

Ibani nods. "It's like a living thing, changing all the time, reacting to things and changing BECAUSE of those reactions."

She decides it's time to put away the math. "It might not hurt for me to meditate, see what I can sense in the Force when I'm deeper in it."

"Math can help with the weather, you might find that worth looking into," A way for her to combine various interests.

[last_kallig]

"I'd be interested to see what math goes into everything," she admits.

"I promise not to float when I meditate this time," she adds, blushing faintly.

Ibani shuts her eyes, breathes in and out, slowly. She lets her self slip outside the bonds of her body, reaching for the web of everything that is always around her.

Sometimes, she'll give course suggestions to Cassian, her voice slightly distant and distracted, but she's mostly quiet. There's not much for her to sense, yet, but when they get closer that will be a different story.
